RICA Strawberry Liposoluble Wax for Dry Skin 400ml

Dry skin and waxing do not get along by default. Wax grips the dead surface skin as well as the hair, which means more discomfort and more redness for less result. The cocoa butter in this one is there to counter that, leaving the skin conditioned rather than stripped.

Strawberry extract is added to revitalise and restore, and it gives the tin its scent, which is a genuine consideration when you are going to be sitting with it warmed up in a small bathroom. The base is RICA's patented Italian formula: glyceryl rosinate, vegetable oils, titanium dioxide, beeswax and zinc oxide, and no petroleum derivatives.

Being straight with you: this and the Banana version are the same formula for the same skin type, differing in extract and scent. If you were expecting one to perform better than the other, it will not. Buy the one you would rather smell.

Which RICA wax? Sensitive or easily irritated skin: Aloe Vera. Bikini line and intimate areas: Brazilian Orange. Short, coarse, stubborn hair on face, underarms or bikini: Brazilian Avocado Butter. Dry skin: Strawberry or Banana, which are the same formula in two scents.

You will need a heater. This is a 400ml tin, so it needs a can-type wax warmer with a thermostat. It will not fit a roll-on cartridge heater, which takes 100ml cartridges instead. Check what you own before ordering.

Worth knowing: 400ml tin. Exfoliate a day or two before waxing rather than immediately before, and moisturise well between sessions. Dry skin waxes far better when it has been looked after in the days beforehand.
