If you buy one thing from the skincare range, make it a sunscreen. UV exposure in Pakistan is high all year, not just in summer, and no brightening or anti-ageing product will outrun daily unprotected sun. Dark spots, uneven tone and early lines are overwhelmingly sun damage — protecting against it is cheaper and far more effective than treating it afterwards.
Under-application is the single biggest reason sunscreen disappoints. The protection printed on the bottle is measured at a specific quantity, and most people use a fraction of it.
SPF measures protection against UVB, the wavelength that burns. The scale is not linear and it flattens out fast:
That is worth knowing before paying more for a higher number. Many regulators cap the label at "50+" for exactly this reason — the difference between SPF 60 and SPF 90 is far smaller than the numbers suggest. Applying enough SPF 30 protects you better than applying too little SPF 90. Frequency and quantity beat the number on the bottle.
Heat and humidity make heavy formulas unpleasant, and an unpleasant sunscreen is one you stop using. A lighter texture you apply every day beats a thick one you avoid. If you are outdoors for long stretches, a hat and shade do work no bottle can match.
