RICA Aloe Vera Liposoluble Wax for Sensitive Skin 400ml

Some skin goes red and stays red for hours after waxing. That is usually sensitivity rather than bad technique, and the wax you choose makes a real difference to it. Aloe vera is the calming one in RICA's range, added to protect and hydrate while the wax does its work.

Underneath the extract it is the same patented Italian formula as the rest of the line: glyceryl rosinate for grip, vegetable oils, titanium dioxide for the creamy texture, natural beeswax and zinc oxide. No petroleum derivatives at all, which is what separates professional salon wax from the cheap tins.

Liposoluble means oil-soluble. Any residue left on the skin lifts away with oil rather than needing to be scrubbed with water, and that alone spares sensitive skin a lot of unnecessary rubbing.

Which RICA wax? Sensitive or easily irritated skin: Aloe Vera. Bikini line and intimate areas: Brazilian Orange. Short, coarse, stubborn hair on face, underarms or bikini: Brazilian Avocado Butter. Dry skin: Strawberry or Banana, which are the same formula in two scents.

You will need a heater. This is a 400ml tin, so it needs a can-type wax warmer with a thermostat. It will not fit a roll-on cartridge heater, which takes 100ml cartridges instead. Check what you own before ordering.

Worth knowing: 400ml, which is a salon-size tin and will outlast a great many home sessions. Do not wax over broken skin, sunburn, moles or varicose veins, and leave it alone if you are using retinol or acid exfoliants, since those thin the skin and wax can lift it.
