Solid has been in Sapil's range since 2007 and it is the one the house is best known for. It is an aromatic fougere, which is the backbone family of classic men's fragrance: fresh at the opening, aromatic through the middle, dry and woody at the end.
Citrus carries the opening, sharp and clean for the first stretch. Spice takes over through the heart, and it settles onto woods and musk, with a powdery quality in the drydown that gives it the slightly old-school character people either love or find dated. There is no middle ground on this one, which is usually the sign of a fragrance with an actual personality.
The value argument is the real one here. Middle Eastern perfumery runs concentrations generously, so a UAE house EDT tends to project and last in a way that a European designer scent at the same price will not.
Suits: evening wear, cooler months, and men who find modern fresh fragrances thin and forgettable.
Worth knowing: 100ml Eau de Toilette. Two sprays is genuinely enough. If you want to try the scent first, the Solid body spray is the cheaper way in.
